POSTMASTER NOMINATIONS SUBMITTED TO THE FIRST SESSION OF THE 8OTH CONGRESS Total nominations submitted 1285 Total nominations withdrawn 116 Total to be confirmed 1169 Total number confirmed- 935 Total number unconfirmed- 234 Information from the Senate Post Office Committee in- vestigator is to the effect that 134 of the unconfirmed nominations were held by the Committee for investigation. The remainder, or 100, failed to secure the approval of the Senators from the states involved or were received too late by the Senate Post Office Committee to permit of their examination of files obtained from the Civil Service Commission.
