Re our 2553, June 10, 2 p. m.
I have just seen the French text of Juin's telegram
to French Mil Mission here. First sentence reads in
English translation "I have just come from Gen de Gaulle
who agrees to withdrawa] of French troops to 1939 French-
Italian frontier.' The message then goes on to state
that Generals Carpentier formerly Juin's chief of staff
in Italy, and Lorbert of French War Office together with
Doyen's chief of staff (sent DEPT, rptd Paris 172) are
arriving Caserta this evening to handle negotiations for
withdrawal.
