On June 9 Marshal Alexander wired Winterton that
he should look over greater Vienna area including air-
fields east of the Danube if the situation permitted
although Alexander felt it was unlikely that the British
would require accommodations on eastern bank of the
River. Such reconnaissance was considered essential so
that Winterton could have a complete picture of the
situation with respect to all air fields and the entire
area of greater Vienna. He was further instructed
to act jointly with General Florey in this matter.
Reptd to London as 12.
