CONTINED
Lord Wright, Chairman of the War Crimes Commission,
on May 7, 1945 informed Brigadier General Weir and myself
that he felt that the war Crimes Commission was not re-
ceiving the complete support of the United States Govern-
ment. REFERENCE is made to Embassy cable 4472, May 3,
1945. HE said that the United States Government had not
paid its contriubtion for the fiscal period 1943-1945, and
that its present position concerning the finances of the
Commission created a difficult situation. HE mentionEd
the Commission's request of February 28, 1945, that the
United States supply a central investigation officer and
the reply which it had received from the United States
on April 26, 1945. HE said that other governments VETE
unable to furnish the Commission with such an officer
due to a shortage of manpower and that the Commission
was compelled
