SECRET FROI.. HARRIMAN
Kennan has informed me of contents of Dept's 2040,
Soptember 20 to Moscow regarüing Marshal Zhukov's forth-
coming visit to the United States. Kennan has advised
no that he has replied giving General Eisenhower!s
schodule during recent trip in Moscow and stating
that I would reply re suggestions as to Zhukov's
program.
I suggest that the President receive him during
his visit and that a dinner be given in his honor by
the President, the Secretary of war, or General Marshall.
Aside from the schedule which undoubtedly General liarshall
will arrange, I believe Zhukov would wish to see some
factorics and visit several cities outside of Washington.
I foel that this is an important opportunity to give him
some fecling of America and life of the people. He may
express some
