INCOMING TELEGRAM DEPARTMENT OF STATE-DIVISION OF COMMUNICATIONS AND RECORDS TELEGRAPH BRANCH 18-H DECLASSIFIED RESTRICTED A Action: FE Authority E.O. 10501 Info: Control 10361 SS C Rec'd April 29, 1948 G 4:55 a.m. A OFS CR DCM DCR FROM: Manila TO: Secretary of State NO: 689, April 29, 4 p.m. Ambassador O'Neal and family left Manila last night aboard PRESIDENT CLEVELAND. President Quirino and daughter Viki headed list of at least 200 Filipinos and Americans who called at ship to bid them goodbye. Earlier in day Ambassador called upon Quirino who took pains to reaffirm strong ties binding US and Philippines and expressed regret at Ambassador's leaving at this time saying that he felt as though he were losing his right hand. At this meeting and again aboard PRESIDENT CLEVELAND Qirino asked Ambassador to assure President Truman that he was "with him all the way down the line."
