I delivered the note to Bidault at 12:30 today (Department's 2527, June 5) HE said: "I have. no defense to offer of our position; it is indefensible. The last time i spoke to GEN de Gaulle on the question he stood up and cut the donversation short and said: 'au revoir. YES or no, are you with me or against me; or do you want to take over the power and have me get out. ! Again I must ask you to give me a couple of days. I shall take Pleven with me who is on good terms with the GENERAL and I shall do my best tó give you a reply very soon I was born very near that region; the whole region is not worth the skin of a cat and it is certainly not worth fighting about."
