Following is translation of text of message
from GEn de Gaulle to IrES Truman in reply to
latter's message regarding GErman coal production
(your 2923, June 24) :
I have just received your message of June 26
and I wish to reply without delay that the prin-
ciples Expressed therein regarding the coal crisis
in western Europe and the means of Ending it are in
Entire agreement with the views of the Fren Govt.
It is Evident that it is only through a great
Effort to develope the coal and lignite production
in GErmany and through no less an Effort to assure
its transport towards the liberated countries that
the latter will be able to receive the minimum quan-
tities of fuel necessary to assure the health of their
