TOP SECRET
FOR THE PRESIDENT AND THE ACTING SECRETARY.
Acting Foreign Minister yesterday asked me to say
that President Vargas had requested that US Government
be informed that Brazil was prepared to declare war on
Japan if invited so to do by US.
This carries forward unofficial intimation given
me from same source some time ago. President Vargas
rather hopes US action on this may be expedited.
