ITEM FOR DISCUSSION
ITEM 1 -- UNITED STATES OBJECTIVES AND PROGRAMS FOR NATIONAL SECURITY
(NSC 68; Memo for NSC from Executive Secretary, same subject,
dated April 17, 1950)
For discussion of the reference report on the subject, containing
a letter by the President and a Report by the Secretaries of State
and Defense, and for consideration concurrently of the procedure
proposed in the reference memorandum of April 17 for carrying out
the President's directive as a matter of urgency. In addition to
the regular participation of the Secretary of the Treasury, the
Economic Cooperation Administrator, the Director of the Bureau
of the Budget, and the Chairman, Council of Economic Advisers
will also participate.
ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION
ITEM 2 -- THE POSITION OF THE UNITED STATES WITH RESPECT TO COMMUNISM IN ITALY
(NSC 67)
For consideration of the reference report by the Executive
Secretary on the subject.
ITEMS FOR INFORMATION
ITEM 3 -- REVIEW OF THE WORLD SITUATION
(CIA 4-50, to be circulated)
The Director of Central Intelligence will circulate at the meeting
a current report on the subject and be prepared to supplement that
report with an oral intelligence presentation.
ITEM 4 -- NSC T/TUS OF PROJECTS
The Status of NSC Projects as of April 17, 1950, will be circulated
on that date for the information of the Council.
