    "ocrText": "DECISIONS\n1. UNITED STATES OBJECTIVES AND PROGRAMS FOR NATIONAL SECURITY\n(NSC 68; Memo for NSC from Executive Secretary, same subject,\ndated April 17, 1950)\na. Discussed NSC 68.\nb. Agreed that an ad hoc committee should be constituted to\nprepare a response to the President's directive contained\nin NSC 68 as a matter of urgency for consideration by the\nCouncil; that the ad hoc committee should consist of senior\nrepresentatives designated by each Council member, the\nSecretary of the Treasury, the Economic Cooperation Adminis-\ntrator, the Director, Bureau of the Budget, and the Chairman,\nCouncil of Economic Advisers; and that names of these\nrepresentatives should be transmitted to the Executive\nSecretary by Tuesday, April 25.\nC.\nAgreed, pending further study, to defer until the next\nCouncil meeting consideration of the questions of re-\nconstituting the NSC Staff and of coordinating the\nimplementation of the programs proposed in response to\nNSC 68.\nNOTE: The Secretary of the Treasury, the Acting Economic\nCooperation Administrator, the Director, Bureau of\nthe Budget, and the Acting Chairman, Council of\nEconomic Advisers participated in this Council\naction.\n2\nd\n.\nTHE POSITION OF THE UNITED STATES WITH RESPECT TO COMMUNISM IN ITALY\n(NSC 67; Memo for NSC from Executive Secretary, same subject, dated\nApril 19, 1950)\nAdopted the reference report by the Executive Secretary on\nthe subject, subject to an amendment to paragraph 13 thereof\nproposed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the reference memo-\nrandum and to a clarification in the language of paragraph 11\nto be agreed upon by the Secretaries of State and Defense.\nNOTE: NSC 67 to be issued in revised form and submitted\nto the President for consideration after agreement\nby the Secretaries of State and Defense on the\nclarification of paragraph 11.\nE e U\n- 2 -"
