transfer of territory would be involved.
d. The Czechoslovak-Derman Frontier. Osechoalo-
vakia has asked for frontier rectifications all along its
German frontier, involving some 880 square km. and some
25,000 persons. The areas may contain uranium deposits.
e. The Danish-German Frontier. Denmark has asked
that the population of the German border district of Schleswig
(area 1939: 5,000 square km.; population: 350,000) eventually
be given the right to determine its political allegiance.
The 1920 settlement of this frontier by olebiscite left a
minority of some 15,600 Danes inside Germany. During and
after the Second Morld War, the population of this area
doubled through the influx of German refugees and expellees.
For this reason, many old German inhabitants of the area
have joined the Danish minority organization, which has
developed into a major party in Schleswig politica (in the
diet elections, it obtained about 83,000 votes, 7.9 percent
of the total). The Danish Government is primarily interested
in guarantees for the Danish-minded minority, and has not asked
for outright annexation, which it would do only after a
genuine Danish majority had requested it.
f. The Netherlands-German Frontier. The Netherlands
Government has asked for the cession of a number of border
areas
