COPY. The White House Washington At Babelsberg (Berlin) Germany August 1, 1945 Dear Mr. Prime Minister: I have your letter with regard to the new weapon to be used on Japan. It seems to me to be all right, al- though I have not compared it carefully with our pro- posed statement. I think you are very generous to re- lease Mr. Churchill's statement in toto. I take it that is what we agreed on. I shall be most happy to see you during the day, at the Conference, or at any other time that is suitable to you. It certainly has been a very great pleasure to be associated with you in this Conference, and I am exceed- ingly happy that our two countries are so thoroughly in agreement on policies for world peace.
