Reference is made to the chart appended to the Division's report submitted herewith as enclosure No. 1. According to the data found therein, 1565 new manufacturing businesses with a nominal capital of 2A75,387,150 have been initiated between September 1945 and June 1948. During this same period, amounts invested or proposed (based on issued capital and/or estimated expenditures) amounted to 2A41,107,150 for new businesses and 2A102, 922, 200 for expansion of estab- lished enterprises, for e total probable expenditure of £A144,029,350. The following table sunmarizes the total capital expenditure invested or proposed for each industrial group surveyed. (From September 1945 to June 1948.)
