MEMORANDUM FOR MR. HOPKINS, THE WHITE HOUSE
Subject: Transmittal of Cable from Embassy, Vienna
Ambassador Donnelly has asked that the President be informed
of the contents of the attached cable (Embassy telegram 3763, June 1)
which explains the reasons for the Ambassador's veto of an Austrian
law regarding amnesty for former Nazis. As a result of this veto
the League of Independents, a minority Austrian party, has sent a
telegram to the President requesting the recall of the Ambassador.
