THE SECRETARY OF STATE
WASHINGTON 25, D. C.
DEPARTMENT OF STATE
WASHINGTON
September 13, 1946
SSORET
MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
Subject: Proposed Visit to the United States
of the Prince Regent of Belgium
A further telegram has been received from our
Ambassador at Brussels with reference to the proposed
visit to the United States of the Prince Regent of
Belgium about which Mr. Acheson sent you a memorandum
dated July 10, 1946.
The Ambassador has been informed that because of
the political situation in Belgium, the Prince Regent
regrets that he will be unable to visit the United
States this autumn. However, he hopes to come to this
country in the late winter or early spring of 1947.
As soon as more definite information is received
concerning the Prince Regent's plans it will be com-
municated to you so that a date can be set which will
be mutually agreeable to you both for his visit to the
White House.
