MEMORANDUM FOR MR. DAWSON, THE WHITE HOUSE
Subject: Personal Message from
Ambassador Myron M. Cowen.
In connection with the contemplated transfer of Ambassador
Myron M. Cowen from Australia to the Philippines, I quote the
following personal message to the President which the Ambassador
has forwarded to the Department from Canberra for transmittal
to the White House:

"I received this morning the State Department's cable
informing me that you were submitting my nomination
as Ambassador to the Philippines.
"I deeply appreciate this additional honor and shall
