Memorandum for the File:
At 10:30 p.m. the evening of April
tenth I called Prime Minister Mackenzie King
and discussed with him the Managing Director for
the Monetary Fund and suggested to him that we
would like very much to have this position go to
the Canadian Government, and also suggested to
him that Mr. Ilesey and Mr. Towers were both very
agreeable to us.
He said he would discuss the matter
with his Cabinet this morning and give me an
answer promptly.
