My dear Mr. President: The Prime Minister of Canada has asked me to convey to you the following message, which I pass on with great pleasure: "My dear Mr. President: I thank you warmly, both on behalf of the people of Canada and in the name of my colleagues and myself, for the very cordial message of congratulations and good wishes on the eighteenth anniversary of Confederation which you have sent on behalf of the people of the United States. Your greetings have been the more appreciated because of its many remembrances of the pleasure which your visit to Canada last month afforded to all of us. We are glad to know that to you also the visit was so enjoyable. We hope there may be many opportunities for renewing a friendship we also value so highly. May I renew my own warmest personal greetings and personal regards. W. L. Mackenzie King."
