Mr. Connelly MEMORANDUM COVERING THE PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED FOR THE VISIT OF PRESIDENT RIOS OF CHILE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1945. 1. Arrival in Washington: The visiting dignitaries will be met at the Virginia end of the Memorial Bridge at 4:15 p.m. by: The Secretary of State Ambassador Claude G. Bowers Mr. Braden, Assistant Secretary of State a ARCHIVES SERVICE*R RECORDS AMD Mr. Woodward, Chief, Division of Protocol do General Vaughan, Military Aide to the President Commodore Vardaman, Naval Aide to the President Mr. Sumnerlin, Chief of Protocol General Hill, American Military Aide to President Rios Captain Mentz, American Naval Aide to President Rios The President's Military and Naval Aides will travel to the Virginia end of the Memorial Bridge in a White House car which will then be used as car No. 1 for the drive to the White House. The Secretary of State will drive to the Memorial Bridge in his car which will then be used as car No. 2 for the drive to the White House. One of the cars of the motorcade coming of from Richmond will be used as the No. 3 car for the drive to the White House. When President Rios and the members of his party reach the Virginia end of the Memorial Bridge, introductions of the various persons will be handled by a protocol official of the State Department.
