MEMORANDUM FOR MR. WILLIAM J. HOPKINS, THE WHITE HOUSE
Subject: Transmitting Copy of Telegram
No. 94, August 29, from American
Embassy, Santiago, Chile.
There is transmitted herewith a copy of telegram No. 94 of
August 29, from the American Embassy at Santiago, Chile, concerning
the request of the Chilean Government to procure two light cruisers
under the terms of the Military Defense Assistance Act. Ambassador
Bowers in Santiago has requested that a copy of this telegram be
brought to the attention of the President.
It is understood that the Chilean Government's request is now
being given consideration by the Department of Defense.
