Dear Mr. Ambassador:
I can't tell you how very much I appreciated your good
letter of the eighteenth.
I was most happy to hear of the reaction to the Korean
matter in Chile, I've been trying my best to get that
tanker turned over to the Chilean Government and I think
eventually we will get it done.
As to the Morgantown nitrate plant it looks as if we are
going to have to use that plant in a war effort anyway so i
doubt very much whether it will be sold ,but you understand
that pressures in this country are just as great to keep
these plants operating as they are in Chile to prevent it.
I hope everything is going well with you and that we can
find some way to maintain our friendly relations with all
the South American countries on the same level at which
they are now.
Sincerely yours,
BANRY S. TRUMÁL
