C Short Skeches of the letter writers o P Miss Helen Chung is a graduate of the Shanghai College (American miss- Y ionary school). After graduation in 1930, she has always worked with the Chinese Y.W.C.A. in mass education. She was sent by the Chinese YWCA, 1945, to study education in the Columbia University, New York City. She is now still in that university. Dr. W. H. Chang is a graduate of the Yenching University (American miss- sionary school) After leaving Yenching, he continued to study medicine in the National Shanghai Medical College and graduated as 8. MD. He came to this country in 1941 to serve as instructor in the New York University. Also he served as intern student in Los Angeles and Boston. Now he is working in the Bellevue Hospi- tal as their pediotrist. Miss s. Y. Liang or Mrs. W. H. Chang graduated in the history department of the Yenching University. She worked in the Chinese YWCA for a while then came to this country in 1941 studying history in the University of Southern California. Then she served as instructor of Chinese history in the University of Chicago. She also studied sociology in the Simmons College and worked as librarian of the Columbia University library. Miss Chen Shan-tsiang graduated from the sociology department of the Shanghai College. Since graduation, she worked with the Chinese TRONAS YWCA on youth problems. She passed the government examination for coming abroad in 1943 and came to this country in 1945. She ARCHIVES "NATIONAL SERVICE AMDS is studying sociology in the New York University. She is still connected with the Chinese YWCA. Mr. L. M. Liu is also a graduate of the Shanghai College. After graduation, he worked in the Chinese YMCA in Christian students activities. He was the organizer of a mass singing moverment in China. He came to this country in 1939. Since then he has been working with the United China Relief. Mrs. L. M. Liu also graduated from the Shanghai College. After graduation she worked in the Chinese YWCA as editor. She sent to Chungking in 1942 (from Shanghai) and worked in the Women's Advisory Com- mittee under Mme Chiang Kai-shek. She was then editor of the magazines published under Mme Chiang's supervision. She joined her husband in 1945 and is now working with the United China Relief. Miss s. H. Hwang graduated from the history department of the National Tsing Hwa University, 1937. After graduation, she taught history in various middle schools. She passed the Government examination in 1943 and came to this country in 1945. She is now studying American history in Columbia University. Miss Kung Pu-sheng graduated from the history department of the Yenching University, 1935. Then she worked in the YWCA on Christian students movement. She was subsquently sent to this country in 1940 to study theology in the Union Theological Semminary of the Columbia Univer- sity. In 1944 she went back to China again working for the Chinese YWCA. In 1945 she was engaged by the East and West Association under Miss Pearl s. Buck. So she came back to this country again working for the East and West Association. At the same time she studies in the Columbia University specializing American history.
