Dear President Truman: Knowing so well China's President and Madame Chiang Kai-shek through my many years in China, being on the Committee of Three in charge of the Presiden- tial Church in Nanking, and having so recently returned to America from Nanking and Formosa, - I felt I must send the enclosed statement to some of the newspapers here. My friends, including Dr. John R. Mott, thinking that this may not have come to your notice have urged me to send a copy of this directly to you, also. So I am asking my good friend, Dr. Harris, Senate Chaplain, please to get this to you.
