Press and radio comment generally is sympathetic
to the United States making every possible effort
to
meet actual food needs in liberated areas. This view
is largely based upon the belief that the only alterna-
tive is misery and disorder. The favorable reaction to
Judge Rosenman's report points up this attitude.
Nevertheless, press and radio discussion indicates
that the public is still unclear as to European needs
and generally critical of government handling of the
food situation-especially at home.
It is also true that relatively few Americans are in-
formed about the amount of meat. now being sent to feed
the peoples of liberated Europe, according to the same
Princeton survey.
