B. Public is Confused as to Repayment Provisions
Among the American people there is considerable
disagreement as to what the lend-lease agreements
with Britain call for--
1) How much Britain is to repay, and
2) What form the repayments are to take.
1)
The June Gallup poll asked this question, with
the following diverse results:
"Under the lend-lease agreements is England
supposed to pay us back in full, in part,
or not at all for our lend-lease aid?"

Despite the fact that only one-third say Britain is
supposed to repay in full under the agreements, nearly
two-thirds think Britain should repay in full (Part A).

The 60% of the-national cross-section who, on the
above question, said Britain has agreed to make
some repayment (full or partial) were asked:
*Will you tell me in what form England is
supposed to repay us for our lend-lease aid?"
