SUGGESTIONS FOR THE CARLTON DINNER MARCH 28 President Truman and Mrs. Truman would precede the President of the French Republic and Madame Auriol to the Carlton Hotel by a few minutes. The President and Mrs. Truman would enter by the private door on K Street into the dining room. The President and Madnme Auriol would then arrive by this same entrance. The two Presidents and their wives would remain in the dining room while the guests are being lined up by the White House Aides in the reception room. At a given moment the doors to the dining room would be opened and the President of the Frenihh Republic and Madame Auriol and The President of the United States and Mrs. Truman will be announced. The President and Mrs. Truman and the President and Madame Auriol would advance lined up as follows: President Truman President Auriol Mrs. Truman TIONAL ORDS S AND Madame Auriol SERVICE" The assembled guests would then be presented. Due to the language problem perhaps the French Am- bassador and Madame Bonnet should escort the Presi- dent and Madame Auriol to the Hotel, remaining with them in the dining room. If this suggestion is carried out, however, the Bonnet's should not be in the receiving line.
