OFFICE OF CHIEF OF COUNSEL FOR WAR CRIMES
APO 696 A c/o POSTMASTER NEW YORK, N. Y.
U.S. ARMY
January 29, 1948
Dr. R. M. W. Kempner
Deputy Chief of Counsel
Courthouse
Tel. Justice Nuernberg 61127
Nuernberg, Germany
Mr. Charlie Ross
White House
Washington, D. C.
Dear Charlie:
Enclosed you will find extracts of German Foreign Office
documents clearly proving that the Nazi diplomats pushed the
Japanese into the war with the United States. These documents
presented by me to the Nurnberg Military Tribunal were received
in evidence by the Tribunal.
I thought they would be of interest to the President in
view of recent statements in the U. S. that Eastern Democratic
politicians forced the U. S. into the war with Japan.
I am sure that this issue will play a role in the coming
presidential campaign labeling the Democratic Administration as
"war mongers" Herewith I am submitting the best proof from
the German Foreign Office files of how the Nazi egar beaver
diplomats worked pushing Japan into the war against the U. S.,
how worried they were about the possibilities of successful
negotiations between the U. S. A. and Japan in 1941, and how
they did everything in order to sabotage Roosevelt's peace
appeal in 1941 (see Page 11, 15 and others).
Sincerely yours,
ARGHIVES "NATIONAL .SERVICE'^ RECORDS AND
Robert Deputy Chief M. W. Kempner of Counsel
