Erdmannsdorff¹g memorandum states
that, according to instructions
from Rintelen, convoyed to him by
Foermann, he has been assigned to
take over Stahmer's former function
of sounding out Ambassador Oshima.
Woermann had suggested that, in
order to legitimize Erdmannsdorff's
position, it would bo woll for
Weizsaecker to inform the Aubassador
accordingly.

loormann's memorandum conveying

Rintelen had stated that it would
be a good idea for Erdmannsdorff
to contact Oshima on his own when-
over such matters camo up. In
other words, concludes Noermann,
he should take up Stahmor's formor
role.
