(3) I pledge my efforts to the President in no servility nor in any sumrender of thought I have. I feel that we must have a leader in order to present a united and powerful front. I might repeat now what I said in July as to my feeling toward Mr. Roosevelt. I declared then: I am with President Roosevelt wholeheartedly. I follow him for honest his large for his capacity for leadership; for his en- gaging democracy of thought and action;for his firm determination that life shall be made pleasant for ds all;for his view that individual "se- curity is the basis for universal security;for his efforts to have the advances of social and industrial processes spell something for the great masses;for his oft-repeated declaration that it is possible to build within these states a type of civilization, founded on a new so- cial order,such as the world has not yet dreamed of
