MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT.
I thought I would send you this
memorandum of reminder on the Greek
situation.
You will emember I told you
Mr. Skouras had spoken to me about
it. His idea is to have Greece and
Great Britain suggest to us that
one-half of the British troops leave
Greece, and we replace them with an
equal amount of troops; that it be
announced that this is being done
at the request of Greece and Great
Britain and that it be further
announced that all of the American
troops and all of the British troops
will be withdrawn simultaneously,
say 90 days after the elections are
held.
