THE POSITION OF THE US WITH RESPECT TO IRAN
Study initiated by the NSC Staff on Dec. 2, 1947. First draft
issued Feb. 11, 1948. After various revisions, draft presented
to Consultants April 23. Concurred in by Navy, April 26; by Army
and Air, May 3. State action being deferred, pending related
developments.
THE POSITION OF THE US WITH RESPECT TO TURKEY
Study initiated by the NSC Staff Feb. 10, 1948. First draft issued
April 5, 1948. After various revisions, draft presented to Con-
sultants April 27. Concurred in by Navy, April 28; by Army, May 7;
by Air, May 12. State action being deferred, pending related
developments.
THE POSITION OF THE US WITH RESPECT TO SCANDINAVIA
Study initiated by the NSC Staff on April 21, revised on May 14,
sent to Consultants on May 18. Concurred in by Navy, May 21; by
Air, June 21; by NSRB, July 12. Army changes submitted June 1 and
State changes submitted July 19 are being coordinated for further
consideration by Navy, Air and NSRB Consultants.
SANACC 398/4
At its 12th Meeting, June 3, the NSC referred to the Staff this
subject to prepare comments and recommendations thereon for con-
sideration by the Council. The Staff interviewed two technical
consultants on this subject and prepared comments and recommenda-
tions which were presented to the Consultants on July 21. Con-
curred in by Navy and NSRB, July 23; changes submitted by State,
July 28. Awaiting action by Army and Air.
US POLICY TOWARD JAPAN
(NSC 13)
Study of this subject submitted by the Department of State for the
information of the Council, distributed as NSC 13, June 2, 1948.
On the basis of this study and a report by the Army on "Limited
Military Armament for Japan" the Staff prepared a report for con-
sideration by the Council and submitted it to the Consultants, July
23, 1948. Concurred in by NSRB, July 30; changes submitted by Navy,
July 30. Awaiting action by State, Army and Air. Recommendations
on the subject of reparations are to be submitted later.
