UNCLASSIFIED COPY FOREIGN SERVICE DESPATCH From: AMEMBASSY, TEHRAN July 17, 1951 To: The Department of State, Washington Subject: Transmitting message to the President from the Shah of Iran The President's message communicated to the Embassy by Deptel 72, July 12, was conveyed to His Imperial Majesty Reza Shah Pahlevi, by His Excellency Hossein Ala, Minister of the Court. The following reply has now been received from Mr. Ala for connumication to the President: July 15, 1951 "Excellency, I did not fail to lay before His Imperial Majesty the message of the President which you kindly transmitted to me on July 13. The Shah-en-Shah commands me to request Your Excellency to convey to the President the deep sense of His Majesty's appreciation of Mr. Truman's good wishes. Thanks to the efficient care of the eminent American physician and surgeons placed at His Majesty's disposal by the President and the American Government, the Shah is making a speedy recovery.
