MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
Subject: Message from the Interim
Legislative Assembly of
South Korea.
At the request of Dr. Kimm Kiusic, Chairman of the
Interim Legislative Assembly of South Korea, I am sending
you herewith a message concerning the Korean desire for
participation in the proposed conference for the drawing
up of a peace treaty with Japan. The message was signed
by all the members of the Interim Legislative Assembly
of South Korea.
The Department has informed Dr. Kimm that the message
is being transmitted to you and that the Department is
giving consideration to means by which Korean interests in
connection with the Japanese peace settlement can best be
given expression. It is believed that it will not be
necessary for you to acknowledge receipt of the message.
It is understood that the Interim Legislative Assembly
of South Korea has asked that identic messages be trans-
mitted to Prime Minister Attlee and to Generalissimo
Chiang Kai-shek.
