    "ocrText": "KOREAN EMBASSY\nWASHINGTON, D.G.\nAIDE-MEMOIRE\nL.\nWe are most grateful to the United Nations and to the\nUnited States for their very courageous action taken at the time of\nthe invasion launched by the north Korean communists against the Re-\npublic of Korea. Indeed, this action was hailed by the free world as\nan indication of the grim determination of all liberty-loving men to\nresist aggression as a threat to peace and international security.\nThe Republic of Korea and the United Nations armed forces are now con-\nfronted with another invasion by the Chinese communists. This repre-\nsents an act of sheer aggression against the Republic of Kore a as well\nas a defiance of the free will of the world. The Government and the\npeople of Korea feel very strongly that the principles of the United\nNations, as exemplified in the decisions taken on June 25 and 27, 1950\nmust be upheld and maintained.\n2.\nIf the United Nations and the United States withdraw their\nforces from Korea, it is the firm conviction of our Government and our\npeople -- and I am sure this conviction is shared by many of t he people\nof the world -- that the nations in Asia which have looked to the United\nStates and the United Nations for leadership in a time of constant threats\nfrom communist hordes, will lose their confidence in the United States and\nthe United Nations. Because of the action taken in regard to Korea in the\nearly months of the invasion by north Korean communists, the position of\nthe United Nations was strengthened to an unparalleled degree in the his-\ntory of that great body. If it should fail to demonstrate continued deter-\nmination to repel the new armed aggression in Korea, a loss of prestige\nof\nunspeakable magnitude may result. Further, the withdrawal of United Nations\nforces from Korea may mean immediate massacre of our democratically inclined\nHECUROS\nSERVICE¹"
