1. Communication from JCS directs me to be prepared
to dispatch a message to the Commanders of the CCF and NK
forces in Korea which, in brief, will inform them that I stand
ready to meet with them to discuss the formulation of armistice
terms if they $0 desire.
2. If I am directed to dispatch such a message, I
will do so in the clear and make simultaneous release to the
press.
3. If such action shouldebe taken, it. would initially
be exploratory only. In° such event, it is of utmost importance
that your command, to a man, clearly understand that a cessa-
tion of hostilities is not assured; that pending any agreement
that might result from such negotiation, an extraordinary
degree of alertness and effort must be exercised by all.
4. Desire that you be prepared to insure the most
rapid and complete dissemination of the above at such time as
events might dictate.
