In response to very informal approach to subject made by me
last evening, acting FONMIN Tello implied that Mexico's attitude
with respect Korean situation nas been adequately expressed
by nis public statement on July 26 already reported to
Department, and in supplementary statement to one newspaper
reporter on July 27 along similar lines He likewise alluded
to the unanimous approval given yesterday by Latin American
representatives to statement on subject by OAS.
The Director General of the diplomatic service (Sanchez Gavito)
was more outspoken in conversation with Burrows, saying he con-
sidered "about-face* in handling foreign relations by US
during last ten years most striking in nistory. He said he
thought possibility of agreement on issues greater and danger
of war less following this evidence of firm decision on part
US.
