BAGHDAD.
Please inform the Regent that the President would
be pleased to have him make in the latter part of May
the visit to the United States whi ch had been planned for
April but which was postponed as a result of the death
of President Roosevelt.
If the Regent is agreeable, it is suggested that
he might arrive in New York on or about May 26 (repeat
26). The President plans to have the Regent spend the
night of May 28 (repeat 28) at the Whi te House and to
give a dinner in his honor that evening. Subsequently
the Regent would spend several days at Blair House and
then follow in general the itinerary whi ch had been
previously planned, subject to any changes which might
be desirable at this season. It is assumed Regent would
later proceed to Canada and England as formerly arranged.
Please inform Regent that following word of his
acceptance of invitation, an announcement will be made
to the press here as previously. Department should be
promptly informed of composition of Regent's party and
NOT SENT
NOT TO BE RECORDED OR CONFIRMED UNTIL THIS COUPON
HAS BEEN DETACHED BY THE TELEGRAPH OPERATOR
