Regent's Party
The Regent will be accompanied by Nuri Pasha As-Said,
many times Prime Minister of Iraq; Lieutenant Colonel Ubayd
Abdullah, the Regent's aide-de-camp; Daud Pasha Al-Haidari,
an Iraqi older statesman who has held many political and
diplomatic posts; Dr. Harry Sinderson Pasha, the Regent's
English physician; and three subordinate aides. Nuri Pasha
will be the only one to stay at the White House with the
Regent.
Nuri Pasha. Nuri is the leading statesman in Iraq
and is the most prominent remaining member of the group
of Arab leaders who fought with Lawrence of Arabia during
the last war in behalf of Arab independence, with which
cause Nuri has been associated all his life. For the
past twenty-five years Nuri has occupied a leading place
in Iraqi political life and in the movement for Arab
union, the growth of which is in large part due to his
efforts. Being strongly pro-Arab, he is, of course,
opposed to Zionism and may discuss the Arab views on
Palestine in detail. Nuri speaks English quite well and
is dynamic and forceful.
Lieutenant Colonel Ubayd Abdullah. The Regent'e
aide, who is between 35 and 40 years old, is the leading
gentleman
