and leading authorities on Arab horses in the entire
Near East. He has been a close companion of the Regent
for a number of years and has a very friendly personality.
His English, however, is limited.
Daud Pasha Al-Haidari. Daud A1-Haidari until
recently was Iraqi Minister in London and now holds no
Governmental post although still one of the le ading
political and social figures of Iraq. A close personal
friend of the Regent, he has held posts in many Iraqi
Cabinets. He is regarded as a man of no great political
influence.
Dr. Sinderson. The Palace physician is the only
British member of the Regent's party, and it is generally
believed that he is being sent along to observe and to
keep the British Government informed regarding the
friendly relations developed between the Regent and the
Americans. His positionsas Court Physician and head of
the British-controlled Royal Hospital in Baghdad and of
the Iraqi State Medical School give him considerable
prestige in Iraq. His tendency towards intrigue renders
him unpopular, however, among both Iragis and British
in Baghdad. He is clever, however, and will probably
endeavor to dampen the Regent's enthusiasm for the
