MEMORANDUM COVERING THE PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED
FOR THE VISIT OF
T HE R E G E N T 0 F
I RAQ
ON 28 MAY 1945
1. ARRIVAL in WASHINGTON:
The visiting dignitaries will be met at the Station at 4:30 p.m. by:
The Acting Secretary of State
The Minister of Iraq
Colonel Vaughan, Military Aide to the President
Captain Vardaman, Naval Aide to the President
Mr. Summerlin, Chief of Protocol
Military Aide to Regent (A Brig. General assigned by War Dept.
)
Naval Aide to Regent (A Captain assigned by Navy Department.)
Other State Department Personnel
The President's Military and Naval Aides will drive to the Station in
a White House car which will be used by the Regent and the Acting Secretary
of State for drive to the White House. At the Station, the White House
car and the Acting Secretary of State's car will back in at the East
entrance of Union Station. Other cars will remain in the parking space
outside.
Mr. Summerlin and the Minister of Iraq will meet the Regent at his
train on Track 20, and will escort the Regent and his party to the Wel-
coming Committee which will be in line as follows, besides the 2 cars
which are parked in the Station:

Mr. William Phillips (State Department)
Mr. Loy Henderson (State Department)
SERVICES
Military Aide to the Regent
Naval Aide to the Regent
Mr. Merriman (State Department)
