Following message dated April 18 was received by m E
for you today from His Excellency Giovanni Persico, Prefect
of Rome.
"His Excellency President Harry S. Truman, Washington.
"Mr. President, on the first anniversary of American
Relief for Italy which was created by the inspiring genius
of the late lamented President Roosevelt, I desire to send
to Your Excellency in the name of all the pEople of the
Province of Rome cordial Expressions of gratitude for the
American relief supplies which with a profound feEling of
human solidarity have be en s ent to us through American
Relief for Italy by the great American pEople. With
the highest ESTEEm and consideration, Giovanni Persico,
Prefect of Rome".
