MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
Subject: Audience of the Honorable Harry Woodring
With the Pope.
A cable received from the Office of the Personal
Representative of the President to His Holiness the
Pope reports that the Honorable Harry Woodring desires
you to know most confidentially the following:
When in an audience on February 2 Mr. Woodring
ventured the opinion that Congress might not conclude
action on the ERP legislation before May, the Pope
remarked "Too late. Elections in Italy come in early
April.
