THE SECRETARY OF STATE WASHINGTON February 4, 1946 MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT Subject: Suggestion re Joe Casey Referring to your note as to Joe Casey, I agree with your suggestion that we should send no representative now. Within the last few days I have talked with Myron Taylor. He too is convinced it would be unwise to send anyone to Rome. At Taylor's suggestion, I have advised our representa- tive to endeavor to show some courtesies to the visiting cardinals. Taylor asked me to advise you that he thought it was the best course to pursue, and that in a month or six weeks he would make a trip to Rome Shanny ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICETA REVENUED
