THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
STATEMENT OF THE IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT TO THE
FOUR NATIONS,
UNITED STATES, ENGLAND, RUSSIA AND CHINA,
August 14.
The Imperial Government has the honor
of making the following repertin regard to
the statement made by the Imperial Government
on August tenth, accepting the terms of the
Potsdam Declaration and in regard to the
reply of Governments of the United States,
England, Russiam and China dated August
eleventh, and issued by the United States;
Secretary of State Byrnes:
1. The Emperbrr hereby proclaims the accept-
ance of the terms of the Potsdam Declara-
tion.
2.
The Emperor hereby issues authority to the
Government and General Staff headquarters
to sign such articles as may be necessaAy
to carry out the various provisions of the
Potsdam Declaration and is prepared to
guarantee the same. He is also prepared
to turn over all battle and seize equip-
menta under the jurisdiction and direction
of all Japanese Army, Naval and Air Forces,
and to issue all orders required by the
High Command of the Allies that may be
necessary to carry out the above pro-
visions.
