Southern Japanese Empire Area - continued
12.
At 142315I two fighter Air Groups in the Tokyo area were ordered
to stand by for interception duties after 0800 on the 15th. An attack

considered likely.
13.
On 14 August, 9TH AIR ATTACK FORCE (Formosa) was directed to carry
out reconnaissance of Okinawa on the 15th. Comment: The above reconnaissance
may be in connection with the 'SAKIGAKE' OPERATION (suicide attack by Formosa-o

which was scheduled for the 15th and later postponed until the 16th.
14.
Preparations for "SAKIGAKE" OPERATION were still under way at
141206I when Commander AIR GROUP /205 reported that a certain undetermined
type of fuse would be used by all planes equipped for /25 bombs.
15. SHINCHIKU DEFENSE FORCE reported a Blue convoy and task force head-
ing west 220 miles from (Garambi?) at 141309I. Comment: Garambi (21-54 N.,
120-51 E.)
Southern Asia Area
