From my observations of the two zones I sey defin-
itely that Kores is being torn in half. People in the
northern zone are terrified of the Russians, industry is
at a standstill, and the one desire, it seems, is to get
south to the American Zone as quickly as possible. Sgd

Department of Information 22 September 1945".
