THE FOREIGN SERVIOE
OF
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
American Legation,
Luxembourg, November 25, 1952.
Dear Mr. President:
It would be impossible for me to ever thank you enough for
giving me the book about you which I shall treasure always.
I deem it the greatest honor to be the proud possessor of this
beautiful book. You will never know how heartwarming it was for me to
read the beautiful inscription which you wrote in it. You have always
been so encouraging to me and I will never forget that you have had
faith in my ability to carry out my work in Luxembourg. For you and for
my country I have done my best. Thank you for having given me this great
opportunity. I also love the medal of you and Mrs. Truman that you gave
to me at luncheon on Sunday.
I have returned to a beautiful Luxembourg as the holiday season
is already in the air even over here. I am busy preparing my party for
the Orphans for St. Nicholas Day and for the Open House for our soldiers
in Europe.
Many, many of the Luxembourg people have expressed their thoughts
to me regarding the American elections and please know that their hearts
were with you -- they were "on your side".
Please do give Bess my dearest love and I hope that you all have
a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday. With warmest regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Parli Illista
