PERSONAL FOR AMBASSADOR PAWLEY FROM GENERAL MARSHALL.
Arrived 3:30 PM yesterday after very comfortable and
agreeable trip thanks to the Presidents tender of his
plane Lovett, Hannagan, Clark and a host of press and
photographers on hand Vandenberg and I do 30 minute
broadcast at 10:30 tonight He sends draft of his remarks
to me at noon Katherine and I repeat again our heartfelt
appreciation of the bountiful hospitality of your Edna and
you and of your untiring efforts in our behalf Please
make my compliments to the President and Mrs. Truman
and to Margaret He is famous this morning as a mountain
climber and an orchid fancier meanwhile I at this moment
have Lovett waiting at my side with the multitudinous
details of a sick world.
