    "ocrText": "mor\n-2- - NIACT DELGA 797, November 17, Midnight from Paris\nPalestine by the resolution of the GA of 16 May, 1948;\n\"(B) To carry out the `specific functions and directives\ngiven to it by this resolution and such additional functions\nand directives as may be given to it by the GA or by the SC;\n\"(c) To assist the governments and authorities concerned in\nreaching a final settlement of all questions outstanding be-\ntween the parties, including any questions which may be raised\nby the parties concerning matters dealt with in the GA resolu-\ntion of November 29, 1947 and in Part One, Section VIII, para-\ngraph 4 of the progress report of the UN mediator in Palestine;\n\" (D) To undertake, upon the request of the SC, any of the\nfunctions now assigned to the UN mediator in Palestine or to\nthe UN Truce Commission by resolutions of the SC; upon such\nrequest by the SC with respect to all the functions of the UN\nMediator in Palestine under SC resolutions, that office shall\nbe terminated.\nSubstitute for paragraph 5:\n\"Instructs the Conciliation Commission to assist the govern-\nments and authorities concerned to delimit frontiers in Pales\ntine, taking into account the following general considerations,\nwithout excluding any territorial settlement mutually accept\nable to the parties:\n'(A) That there are important elements common to both the\nresolution of the GA of 29 November, 1947, and the progress\nreport of the UN Mediator in Palestine;\n(B) That certain adjustments in the territorial arrangements\nof the GA resolution of 29 November 1947, might be considered\nthrough negotiations directly or through the UN Conciliation\nCommission, for example, an adjustment of the disposition of\nJaffa, all or part of western Galilee and all or part of the\nNegev.\nTHINK\nDepartment should\nARCHIVES NATIONAL AND\nDECLASSIFIED\nRECORDS\nE.
